JOB TITLE: Executive Director
REPORTS TO: Leadership Pasadena Board of Directors through Board Chair
POSITION SUMMARY: Leadership Pasadena (LP) is an organization dedicated to the personal growth and leadership development of individuals who live or work in Pasadena and the surrounding communities. LP’s leadership programs develop collaborative, forward-thinking leaders who embrace diverse perspectives and build resilient, equitable communities and organizations for the benefit of the non-profit, private, and public sectors. The Executive Director (ED) has overall operational responsibility for LP programs and fulfillment of the LP mission. The ED works with the Board of Directors (Board) to develop and implement long and short-term strategy. The ED leads all development efforts and is a key interface with the community and financial supporters. The responsibilities and duties of the ED are varied and may change based upon the needs of the community and direction of the Board.

The responsibilities and duties of the ED are varied and may change based upon the needs of the community and direction of the Board.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Program Management:
- Manage programs and services consistent with the mission, values, and goals of LP
- Provide leadership and support to the Program Committee to develop and evaluate LP programs, including selecting and contracting with program facilitator(s).
- In coordination with the program facilitator, determine and secure session speakers and provide speakers with presentation instructions and education about LP.
- Responsible for logistical arrangements for programs including, but not limited to, securing locations, coordinating catering, arranging av/technology, photographer, off-site retreat, etc.
- Assist the Recruitment Committee in the recruitment of program participants.
- Oversee all fund-raising efforts in consort with the Board Development Committee to meet budget needs and goals set by the Board including, but not limited to, annual fundraising plan, grant applications, corporate donations, special events, and individual donations.
- Establish relationships with community leaders and policy makers, foundation and corporate funders, major donors, and governmental officials.
- Establish collaborative working relationships and cooperative arrangements with community organizations and local media outlets.
- Be a visible representative of LP at community events to further LP’s mission and goals.
- Administer overall operation of LP, including reviewing and evaluating all program activities, ensuring that contractual obligations are fulfilled, and developing administrative policies and program objectives for Board review.
- Work with the Treasurer, Finance Committee, and Board to prepare an annual budget, ensure LP operates within budget guidelines, and prepare and submit all federal and state tax and charitable registry filings by the required deadlines.
- Coordinate with the Board to publicize LP and its activities, programs and goals through appropriate mechanisms which include newsletters, LP website, social media, etc.
- Provide leadership and support to the Alumni and Volunteer/Friend Committee to maintain a vibrant and connected alumni/friend network that promotes active and broad participation in LP.
- Maintain a working knowledge of significant developments and trends in the leadership and community engagement field.
- Maintain records and documents, and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Handle all mail (traditional and electronic) to conduct the organization’s business.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
