Community leadership can let your employees make an impact in their community. Feelings of pride, satisfaction, and accomplishment are motivating to employees and there is mounting evidence of the health benefits of volunteering!
Program sessions are hosted on-site at leading community organizations and businesses, and provide an opportunity for candid and insightful dialogue with leaders from government, nonprofits and business.
Class participants also form small, diverse, often multigenerational, project teams to create a sustainable community service project in partnership with local non-profits.
Applicants should live, work or volunteer in Pasadena or surrounding communities in the San Gabriel Valley. Both accomplished and emerging leaders are encouraged to apply. Participants will be selected from the government, nonprofit and business sectors to reflect the diverse demographics - cultural, ethnic, generational, philosophical, and political - that make up the greater Pasadena community.
The program runs from September through April. Each session focuses on a particular aspect of community life, including government, education, business, science and the arts and the non-profit Board matching .
Tuition for the program is $4,500. We start accepting applications in February.
We have an upcoming leadership course for post 9-11 veterans that will help those who risked their lives for us successfully integrate into their new civilian community and business environment so they can serve and lead again.
My work for the past 20 years has been in business development and human resources consulting. As I was researching opportunities to leverage my skills and get more involved in the Pasadena community, I attended an LP information session and immediately connected with the passion for the mission and vision of LP.
