Recruiting Coordinator

 

Part Time, Independent Contractor Position (average approximately five hours per week). Monthly base, plus commission payable at conclusion of contact, from tuition deposits. Potential opportunity to participate in the program tuition-free as a successful performance bonus. Contract period immediately through August 30, 2012.

 

Leadership Pasadena, a nonprofit, community-based leadership training organization, is seeking to retain, on a part-time, independent contractor basis, a Recruiting Coordinator to recruit participants for its signature, eight-month, professionally facilitated leadership training program, now in its twelfth year, that begins in September 2012.

 

Coordinator responsible for recruiting 25 qualified participants for the program. Qualified applicants must live, work, or volunteer in the greater Pasadena area and have some leadership or team management responsibility in their work or volunteer lives. Participants should represent a cross-section of the Pasadena community, from government, nonprofit, business, and professional community.

 

Under the supervision of the Board member serving as Recruiting Chair:

  • Update Program application materials, for both print and on Web site, through coordination with Webmaster.
  • Publicize program to community, including drafting press releases, expand mailing list to include HR professionals and corporate community relations officers.
  • Contact current interest list and maintain database of inquiries and applicants.
  • Pursue publicity with Star News and other local outlets.
  • Make presentations to community organizations, including Chamber of Commerce (scheduled), Service Clubs, and Trade Organizations in Pasadena.
  • Publicize, coordinate, and host two information sessions (one breakfast and one happy hour).
  • Monitor and respond to telephone, mail, and e-mail inquiries.
  • Support board and alumni recruiting efforts, including with key community partners.
  • Administer application process, coordinate with selection committee.
  • Follow up on alumni and board member referrals, both individuals and organizations.
  • Coordinate with Program Committee regarding opportunities to invite candidates and interested organizations to current program sessions and graduation.
  • Prepare monthly report for Recruiting chair to present to board.
  • Mail tuition agreements and pursue and record initial deposits.

Ideal candidate has substantial contacts in greater Pasadena business and professional community. Position requires sales and public relations experience, public speaking and presenting skills, and organizational and time management skills. Candidate should be proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Familiarity with CRM program such as Microsoft ACT, and interest in or experience with community development a plus.

 

Successful performance of this contract may lead to additional opportunities with Leadership Pasadena in a program coordinator, marketing coordinator, or other contract support role.
